British Artist Alex Metcalf has created a Tree Listening exhibit that has been showcased throughout the U.K., Europe and Canada. Alex has designed a special device that amplifies and records the inner workings of a tree.

The sound Metcalf’s recordings make are truly remarkable.

Deep rumbles and strange mysterious sounds create an almost rhythmic and deeply mesmerizing auditory experience.

Through the headphones we hear a unique soundscape designed by nature itself, a series of pops, the sounds of water being drawn up through the tree’s xylem tubes and the reverberations of the aching movement from the tree’s trunk and limbs.
