The emerald ash borer (EAB) has killed millions of trees in south-western Ontario. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has already detected its presence within the cities of Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville. All ash species are at risk. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency warns that the deadly beetle poses a major threat to urban and forested land. This has forced authorities to prohibit the movement of all ash tree wood and material in or out of southern Ontario.
